Job Interview tips

If you know that you are heading in for one or more job interviews, you want to do everything you can to get yourself prepared and ready for your interview for a job. Especially if you have been trying for this interview for some time now or you are applying for your dream job, this could be the chance of a lifetime. It is important to make sure that you are prepared and one of the best ways of doing that is practicing with frequently asked interview questions. You want to ace the interview and show that you are confident and professional.

Job Interview Answers.

There are a few job interview questions and answers in particular which are asked at almost every interview. One is what you bring to the job, what qualities it is that set you apart from other applicants. Make sure that you answer truthfully and not like a robot. Tell them about any job that you had where you may have been in a leadership position and had to manage and get things done.

Job Interview Skills

They will probably also ask what your goals are for the future. It can be a tricky question to answer because although you do want to be truthful, at the same time your goal right now is to get hired for the job you are applying for. When discussing any future goals for instance your career goals if that is not now, make sure that it somehow relates to the position you are applying for. You want to show them that you have skills and interests in this field. This shows that you are focused and lets them know that you are an expert in the field.

Common Interview Question

You may also be asked about your salary expectation for the job and this is why it is important to remember what pay rate was offered on the job advertisement. When you first applied for the job there should have been at least a basic figure that was offered a pay for the position. If you are going to be blunt you can always tell them you are used to making a bit more than that and if they think that you are worth it they absolutely may raise the pay.

Just don’t be too cocky because if you expect too much they will just move on to the next applicant. Never tell them that you are willing to work for less than they are offering because not only is that bad for you financially but also actually can hinder your chances of getting the job.

How to answer interview Questions

The most important thing is that you practice so you can be quick on your feet and not be left flabbergasted with nothing to say at the interview. This is going to greatly improve your chances of being chosen for the job.

What are some sample interview questions for a job at a bank?

Sunday, May 2nd, 2010

I have what I believe is my final interview tomorrow, and I REALLY want this job, so I want to be as prepared as possible. What are some examples of questions that banks will ask, and maybe even possible answers for those questions? It’s for a teller position FYI.

Highest number of LEGITIMATE questions will get 10 points :)

Heres what I remember:

How would you handle an irrate customer?

Have you ever stolen anything?

Are you good with math (they WILL give you sample questions)

Do you have good customer service skills and if so, what makes you think so?

Tell me an experience when a customer wouldn’t take no for an answer? What did you do?

Can you multitask?

What is the difference between a withdraw and a deposit?

Are you good with following procedures? You will want to emphasize that you go by the book.

What is our idea of an ideal boss?

Will you be able to work overtime if there’s an emergency? (Many banks may keep tellers 15-20 minutes late after closing to count drawers or do an audit)

Where do you see yourself in a year (They want to make sure they can keep you for atleast 6 months to year)

How do you deal with stress?

How would your best friend describe you?

What characteristics makes you a candidate for this position?

How do you fill downtime?

How many times a year would you say is acceptable to be late/tardy or to call in sick?

How would you make our customers feel welcome?

How would you handle an interuption from another cusomter? another employee? your manager?

How would you handle knowing that another co worker is stealing?

What frustrates you on the job?

Name a time when you gave a customer exceptional service?

What are the top 3 traits or skills every bank teller must have to excel?

How well do you understand and kno our products? You need to understand the basics of checking, savings, moey market, cd and loan accounts. How you manage your own money and finances will determine whether or not you can help the bank’s customers.

Be ready to ask questions yourself, like what is the daily routine for the average teller, can you give me an insite on the teller’s functions, what type of products and services will I be offering to current customers and potential customers?

Keep all answers brief, use descriptive words such as loyal, trustworthy, confidential, reliable…etc. reinforce your background skills and how they may apply to the position. Be specific and confident in your replies. You must be able to show that you can hande conflict, In addition, the job requires you to be detail-oriented, (you are dealing with other people’s money and must be accurate, there is no room for error)if you are not organized or good with figures and you are frustrated by the details.
Be positive in your reply and turn a negative into a positive (example: I am detail-oriented and sometimes my desire to be accurate may slow my ability to service customers quickly, however, I feel I am dealing with their monies and want to ensure accuracy and their satisfaction. I am working on being more efficient with my time.
